Norwegian

Many traditions came courtesy of our Viking friends.  Since I'm Norwegian I've been able to personally enjoy some of these traditions and incorporated them in my own wedding.

KRANSEKAKE:
This delicious chewy almond cake is made of several rings, layered on top of each other to look like a tree.  Sometimes little prizes and Norwegian flags are pinned on it too.  This is traditionally served at weddings and Christmas.

SONG PROGRAM:
I first enjoyed this tradition at my cousin's wedding in Norway.  This takes some pre-planning, but it's lots of fun.  Ask a few people close to you a few weeks or months before the wedding to write a song.  It's not as hard as it sounds.  Pick a popular tune most people will know (like 'row row row your boat' or 'Mary had a little lamb') and write a poem about the couple.  They are usually written by a parent, best friend, bride, groom etc.  A booklet is made up in advance of all the songs written out and tune name listed.  This is then given to each guest or couple.  During the reception, the author will lead the entire congregation in standing and singing the song together.  Those closest to you get to participate and share in your wedding memories and guests get to learn more about you as a couple.  It really gets the party going with activity and conversation.
